People from all walks of life had imposed great admiration to Monsignor Lawrence for the entire 33 years of his pastoral service in the Parish of St Lawrence at Edakochi. The words "Poor people are the real treasure of the Church" had led him to serve this ancient Church as coined once by the Great Apostle, Saint Lawrence. According to the Monsignor, poor and suffering people were the real custodians of each and every thing that came to him. He completed the pastoral life in such a way as to lessen the living burden of common men. He was always approachable by everyone throughout his life. People from various religions and casts visited him for a commonly acceptable solution for their problems. Even while suffering from illness, Monsignor Lawrence had devoted himself at the service of weak.

He was acclaimed as a Saint while living. The tomb of the Monsignor is regarded as a place to depend up on by thousands of hopeless people. The Church is well acknowledged with the increasing number of favors received through the prayers for intercession with Monsignor. Let us pray to the Almighty during the event of Declaration of Monsignor as a Servant of God. "God, Accept thy servant Monsignor Lawrence for the all awaiting worship at the Altar soon"!

Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Kariyil
Bishop of Cochin
